Clementine's (bio) mom & dad
I have been complaining for weeks because this dog is not putting on weight. My first problem in getting a new puppy is that I expected everything to be the same as Bluebonnet... her temperment, attitude, the way she eats, the way she interacts, etc. But Clementine is nothing - NOTHING - like Bluebonnet. For starters, Blue is a curvy gal and Clementine is skin and bones; Blue likes, nay LOVES to cuddle and Clementine couldn't be less interested; Bluebonnet was never a digger or a fan of sticks, but Clementine likes both equally. Anyway, it finally hit me last night. I remembered what Clementine's doggie mom and dad looked like and she looks exactly like her dad, Oliver. So this tells me that she may just end up being a little smaller than Bluebonnet afterall and not the giant Basset Hound I've been thinking she would be. However, I made this assumption off of how big she was at 8 weeks which was the same size as Bluebonnet at 3/4 months.
Oliver, Clementine's bio dad - she looks exactly like him from the orange color to the wide white section between her eyes... she also has his eyes and snout.
Daisy, Clementine's bio mom - she looks nothing like her mom, but she did look just like that one light colored puppy on the far left when she was born. This is another litter but it's interesting that Daisy had another puppy that looked just like Clemmie as a baby dawg.

Dear Bluebonnet
In one month you will be 3 years old and I just can't believe how fast time has gone by. It seems like only yesterday that we picked you up in Lexington on that rainy day and I put you under my raincoat to keep you dry. I didn't know at that time how much I could possibly love you. When the dog trainer asked Daddy why he loved you he said "Because she makes my wife so happy." That pretty much sums it up.
Love you,
Mommy
Stealth
Bluebonnet used to be allowed to sleep in the bed with us. Then we went to a strict N0-Dog-On-The-Bed-Rule when we knew we were going to get a second dog. Suprisingly, Bluebonnet adapted to that very well. So I thought well, I'll just let her up on the bed when we watch tv together. Nope - big mistake. So we went back to never allowing either of them on the bed ever. Ever. It seemed to be working out until I had to have them up there with us one morning and now Bluebonnet is all about getting on the bed. But she's smart... she will jump on the bed and get in the corner and lay completely still, she even breaths softer.
It kind of looks like this:

She's like If I keep real still they will not see me. They don't see me. I'm so stealthy.

Wake-up Crew 2.0
When Blue was a puppy I would put her up in the bed with Kris in the morning and announce that the Wake-up crew had arrived. I did it again this morning for the first time in over a year but with both dogs and called Wake-up crew 2.0. Blue doesn't walk all over Kris' head like she used to. Instead she twirled to get comfortable then yawned and went to sleep. As expected Clementine went off to a corner of the bed by herself.

Just hanging out together
Right now both girls are just sitting outside in very close proximity to each other. The picture is not very good because of the screen on the window.
I was in the back of the house and realized that it was very quiet so I started looking for them and found them outside. I am reluctant to open any doors or cabinets in the house because their quality sister time gets disturbed by the slightest sound.

Exhausted from the vet trip
Clementine went to the vet for her 2nd of 3 appointments for overall puppy health/shots/dewormer, etc. Bluebonnet was back to find out more about the now golf ball-sized bump on her back. The vet recommends removing it because the rate it’s growing could end up in rupture and a whole bunch of nastiness follows that. Luckily since it’s not attached to muscle or bone it’s probably just a stinger or a thorn of some kind that wasn’t able to expel itself from her body. I’ve come to terms with the fact that we have to remove it but I’m not happy about my baby going under anesthesia.
